How much does a website cost in 2026? Real prices across 5 countries

Public pricing checked on 5 July 2026 across 15+ providers in Switzerland, France, the UK, Portugal and Spain: real ranges, the lifetime-subscription trap, and the 4 questions to ask before signing.

We checked the public pricing of more than fifteen providers across five countries on 5 July 2026, straight from their official pricing pages. Here is what a business website really costs today — and what the price grids don’t always tell you.

Switzerland

  • localsearch (Swisscom): from CHF 790 + CHF 348/year for a 3-page site, up to CHF 5,090 + CHF 1,188/year for the full package.
  • Local agencies (French-speaking Switzerland): CHF 3,000 to 8,000 for a business site, plus CHF 500 to 3,000/year in maintenance.
  • Young subscription agencies: CHF 149 to 249/month — forever, without ever owning the site.

France

  • Solocal (PagesJaunes): €64 to €209/month depending on the tier, subscription only — there is no purchase option. Over 3 years, even the entry tier passes €2,300.

United Kingdom

  • UENI: £18.99 to £94.99/month, plus a £149 to £599 setup fee.
  • Yell: £36 to £75/month, plus £399 to £3,499 setup.

Portugal

  • Local agencies: €600 to €2,500 one-time for a professional site, or plans around €80/month with commitment.

Spain

  • Professional business site: €700 to €1,800; corporate sites reach €4,500.

The trap the grids don’t show

Almost the entire market has moved to the never-ending subscription: 150/month for 5 years = 9,000 — and the day you stop paying, the site is gone. You never bought anything. You rented.

The 4 questions to ask before signing

  1. Will the site ever be mine? (source code, design, content)
  2. What’s the 3-year total? (setup + monthly + add-ons)
  3. Who keeps control? (can I leave with my site?)
  4. Does the price ever go down? (or is it the same rent for life?)
